Year 2 have made beautiful hot air balloon silhouettes. This linked in perfectly with our Erasmus+ Project titled ‘Fly High in Europe’
The children began by looking at a selection of photographs of hot air balloons, but specifically silhouettes of hot air balloons. Having already identified warm and cold colours, the children chose to have wither a warm or cold background.
They children then carefully tore a selection of papers in their chosen colours to create the background. At the end they added one contrasting colour.
The children then carefully panted their hot air balloon and this was stuck onto their background.
Year 3 have very cleverly tried to imagine what a view from above would be like. The children imagined they were flying in a hot air balloon looking out over the basket. They tried to paint what they thought the countryside would look like.
Their finished paintings are FANTASTIC! Well done Year 3!
The children in Year 5 have used pastels to create the background for their balloon scenes. Then using black paper they cut out a silhouette of a hot air balloon.
The children in Year 6 have worked very hard to make their own hot air balloon paintings. They began by painting a sunset sky backdrop. Following this, the children then painted a silhouette skyline of Newcastle and Gateshead landmarks. They then added their hot air balloons. The children were very proud of their completed art work.
