Spring and kites

Spring and kites

We took advantage of the sunny spring days to continue working with kites.

After studying the characteristics of the right-angled triangles, we discovered that four right-angled triangles joined together gave life to another geometric figure: the rhombus.

We have also discovered that this shape is typical of kites and we indulged to build colored ones with our right-angled triangles, to decorate our classroom.

We also tried to build kites using garbage bags, toothpicks and string. We have thus obtained kites, not very beautiful (we admit it), but perfectly flying and with a minimum expense.

To prepare our festival, we decided to create a wind garden.

So children cut plastic bottles and they create their wind garden…

And the results were beautiful .

Then François took his own big kites and we can see in the sky of St Geniès lots of colours .

It was an happy afternoon with lot of joice!

Visit to Montà, Italy

Visit to Montà, Italy

The children of Montà send a great CIAO to the English, French and Romanian teachers who have been visiting us in March and to all their students.

They remember with great nostalgia the moments spent together!

It was an important moment of sharing and discovery for them, in which they were able to test themselves with the English language.

Aeroplane Blinds

Aeroplane Blinds

Year 2 planned and carried out a science investigation to decide which paper would made the best aeroplane blind.

First the children thought about the purpose of a blind – to block out sunlight and to make the aeroplane darker.

The children then looked carefully at the papers we would be testing and made a prediction which one they thought which would make the best blind.

They then carried out their investigation by hold the paper up at the window and looking to see if it would let light through.
